Barcelona stand to gain €15 million from Champions League clash vs Napoli

We are merely hours away from Barcelona’s most important game of the season, as they take on Napoli in the second leg of the Round of 16 tie.

The Catalans are coming on the back of a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Naples, meaning Xavi Hernandez’s men must secure a victory if they are to advance to the next stage.

Qualifying for the quarterfinals in the Champions League could indeed be important for Barcelona to ease the financial burden.

Barcelona stand to gain €15 million from Napoli tie

In fact, Barcelona could potentially rack up €15 million if they come out victors in tonight’s clash, reports Mundo Deportivo.

From this €15 million, a figure of around €5 million would come in the form of ticket sales at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys for Barcelona will play an additional Champions League game at their home.

In fact, the stadium is sold out heading into tonight’s game, with around 50,000 spectators likely to be present this evening. A total of 2,600 Napoli supporters are also expected to be present in the stadium.

While Barcelona are unlikely to break the record of 50,112 spectators they had in the game against Real Madrid earlier this season, the figure is expected to be touching distance.

Meanwhile, an additional €10.6 million will come from UEFA once Barcelona qualify for the quarterfinal stage.

A revenue of €15 million could be integral for Barcelona in their bid to meet this season’s budget expectations.

Not to mention, Barcelona could stand to gain further in the quarterfinal stage, where the Catalans are more than likely to face a European giant, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester City already qualifying.

Simply put, this appears to be a must-win game for Barcelona, with the club’s prestige and economic stability at stake.
