Barcelona to send ‘good renewal offer’ to breakthrough forward in 2025
Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently disclosed that the club has been fielding bids for a number of key first-team players, with one notable mention being Lamine Yamal.
Despite earlier reports suggesting that the 16-year-old sensation has caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona remain firm in their stance, refusing to entertain any offers, even those exceeding €200 million.
Instead of entertaining offers, Barcelona are focused on retaining Yamal’s services, expressing confidence in their ability to secure his future.
They maintain strong relations with his representatives and are poised to extend his contract once he reaches the age of 18, according to insights from transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano.
What is being said?
Earlier, Romano mentioned that PSG are poised to make a move for Yamal. While their interest in the 16-year-old is valid, there is no confirmation or official proposal on the table just yet.
“Laporta has said that Barcelona are prepared to say no to the €200 million offer for Yamal. Why? Firstly because Barcelona believe he has to be the face of this project and for the future. They have no intention to sell the player,” said Romano.
“Mostly importantly, Barcelona believe that Yamal’s new contract, next year in 2025 when he will turn 18, is going to be almost guaranteed thanks to the relationship they have with the player’s camp.
“Barcelona are preparing their future around Yamal and other players too. This is why they are prepared to reject any offers for him,” he added.
It is to be noted that back in October 2023, Barcelona reached an agreement over a new contract with Yamal, extending his stay with the team until 2026. As Barcelona have been practising, they inserted a buyout clause worth €1 billion in his contract.
Next year, when he turns 18, he will have only one year left on his deal and this would be the right time for the team to open discussion.
