Transfer Rumors and News

Barcelona tracking 18-year-old Ligue 1 prodigy wanted by Arsenal, Man United

Barcelona are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window with a lot of activity expected at the club.

Player sales are a given as the Catalans need to generate revenue in order to address their Financial Fair Play problems.

Once that is done, Deco, Xavi Hernandez, and the rest of the team will work towards strengthening the squad, with a new pivot and a left-winger seen as top priorities.

Names like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Dani Olmo have been touted as possible targets for Real Madrid, but it appears that another young talent has registered on their radars.

Desire Doue on the radars of Barcelona

Indeed, as per reports relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Stade Rennais starlet Desire Doue is being followed closely by Barcelona.

Having made his senior breakthrough last season, the 18-year-old versatile attacking midfielder, who has largely been used as a left-winger this campaign, has taken a big step forward.

So far in 2023/24, Doue has produced a tally of four goals and six assists from 41 games in all competitions for Rennes.

In fact, the teenage starlet has been nominated for the Ligue 1 Best Youngster award for the season.

Barça have been linked with Doue in the past as well and it appears that the Catalans are still tracking the 18-year-old prodigy.

Competition for Doue’s signing

However, Barcelona are not alone in showing an interest in Doue as Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester United are also looking at the 18-year-old talent.

Furthermore, other big European clubs like Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Napoli are also keen on signing the teenager.

Doue has a contract with Rennes that runs until the summer of 2026, with the French club eager to retain his services. However, with so many big clubs circling, a departure seems inevitable.
