Barcelona winger’s injury not very serious, but player a doubt for Super Cup final vs Real Madrid

Barcelona advanced to the final of the Spanish Super Cup and are set to meet Real Madrid on Sunday, thanks to a comfortable 2-0 victory over CA Osasuna.

While Ilkay Gundogan and Robert Lewandowski impressed on the night, one of the players who failed to make an impact was Raphinha.

The Brazilian suffered a leg injury and had to be taken off just before the half-time whistle. The injury initially appeared to be a muscle tear, which raised fears among the Barcelona supporters.

No muscle tear for Raphinha

However, a recent report from Diario AS has offered an update on the fitness of Raphinha, suggesting that the forward has not picked up any muscle tear.

This is good news for Barcelona, as muscle tears can be very painful and could have easily kept Raphinha out for a considerable period.

Instead, Raphinha only has a slight muscular blow. It won’t be surprising to see the forward recover quickly and be ready for action in the near future.

Will Raphinha be available against Real Madrid?

While Raphinha’s knock may not be serious, the timing of his injury is very unfortunate for Barcelona.

The club are already dealing with the injuries of Gavi, Pedri and Inigo Martinez, among others. As such, losing Raphinha serves as a major blow, especially just days before the Super Cup final.

Diario AS adds that Barcelona are set to run relevant tests on Raphinha to ascertain the extent of his knock.

The Catalans, for their part, have not completely ruled Raphinha out for the Super Cup final. The club are also hopeful for the return of Joao Cancelo ahead of the Real Madrid clash, with the Portuguese international eyeing a superfast recovery.
