Transfer Rumors and News

Barcelona working on the contract renewals of three La Masia teenage starlets

The January transfer window went by quietly at Barcelona with the La Liga champions only bringing in Vitor Roque in the last month.

However, Xavi has found resources from within the La Masia setup to reinforce the squad with Marc Guiu, Pau Cubarsi and Hector Fort becoming regulars in the first-team roster of late.

On top of that, another young talent, Marc Bernal, is also knocking on the doors, with plans being made for the midfielder to do the pre-season with the senior team in the summer.

Barcelona want to tie down youngsters to new contracts

Now, Santi Ovalle is reporting that Barcelona are keen to tie down the youngsters making their breakthrough into the first-team setup to new and improved contracts.

As such, the reigning La Liga champions are already understood to be working on the renewals of three La Masia graduates in Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Bernal.

Cubarsi, 17, signed his first professional contract with Barcelona in June last year, committing to the club until 2026.

But his recent explosion in the senior team and the admiration of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has seemingly convinced the club to work on his renewal.

As for Fort, the right-back’s contract stands to expire in 2025, meaning he would be entering the final year of his deal in the summer.

The 17-year-old is clearly set for a more prominent role from next season, especially with Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso expected to leave. And a new and improved contract would go along nicely with it.

Moving on to Bernal, there are great expectations placed on the 16-year-old, with there being hopes that he becomes the club’s next big pivot midfielder after Sergio Busquets.

Like Cubarsi, Bernal too signed a new contract until 2026 in the summer of 2023, but a potential promotion to the senior team next season could come with a new deal as well.
