Barcelona yet to make an approach for €60 million Bayern Munich target – report

It is no secret that Barcelona plan on signing a new pivot midfielder in the summer in a bid to fill the void left by Sergio Busquets’ departure last year.

One of the names in contention to be signed is Everton midfield powerhouse Amadou Onana. The 22-year-old is an option that seems to be generating consensus at Barcelona, although any move for him will not be easy.

Barcelona yet to make an approach

Bringing forward an update on the situation, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that Barcelona hold an interest in Onana but are yet to make any sort of concrete approach for him.

There had been reports floating around that the midfielder is represented by Pini Zahavi, who has a very good relationship with Barça president Joan Laporta. It could have given the Catalans an edge in their pursuit.

However, the update from Sacha Tavolieri dismisses those claims suggesting that Onana is represented by a company that is owned by his sister, Melissa.

For now, there has been no concrete approach from Barcelona yet, which is understandable as Deco & co. are still waiting to learn the kind of spending power and Fair Play margin they will have in the summer.

Bayern Munich also keen

Furthermore, competition for Onana’s services is also growing as Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign him in the summer.

Indeed, the Bundesliga champions are also keen on securing the services of the Belgian midfielder, for whom Everton are seeking a transfer fee of €60 million.

The price tag as well as the growing interest in Onana makes things complicated for Barcelona, who are unlikely to have that kind of financial muscle in the summer.

As things stand, though, every possibility is open and only time will tell where Onana ends up.
