Barcelona youngster closing in on summer departure

Barcelona’s trust in youngsters has been one of the few bright takeaways in an otherwise gloomy campaign.

However, the case of Vitor Roque stands out as an exception. While Barça have relied on youth to bring innovation to the pitch, the 19-year-old’s journey has not followed the same trajectory.

And concerns regarding his future have especially heightened after the player’s agent Andre Curry lashed out at the club for their mistreatment of Roque.

Barcelona’s stance on the matter

Now, according to Javi Miguel of AS the debate within the club regarding Roque’s future is intensifying, with the coaching staff suggesting that a loan for Roque might be the best solution.

Competing with a top striker like Robert Lewandowski could be holding him back, and the club believes the Brazilian might have moved to Europe prematurely, as he falls behind in some fundamental concepts.

In fact, the Catalans even tried to assist the 19-year-old by providing him with video clips, but so far, it has not been enough to help him advance.

As such, Roque has merely received 138 minutes of action in the league across 11 games.

No place for Roque right now

The report adds that despite their hefty investment in the player, the sports committee has unanimously agreed that Vitor Roque does not yet warrant a spot on the team.

With his future up in the air, everything indicates that he will wear another shirt next season, either on loan or a permanent transfer.

While Andre Cury has opposed a loan deal by claiming only a permanent exit would suit them, a meeting between the club and agent is expected to take place soon, which will likely see a resolution being achieved.
