Barcelona youngster will delay decision on future until managerial situation is resolved

Ansu Fati finds himself at a crossroads yet again heading into the summer transfer window. Once regarded as the future of FC Barcelona, the youngster was loaned out to Brighton & Hove Albion last summer after falling out of favour under Xavi Hernandez.

There were expectations that playing in the Premier League under a coach like Roberto De Zerbi could help the Spanish ace.

But that has not been the case as another injury and a lack of sharpness in terms of form and fitness have seen him fail to make an impact.

In fact, De Zerbi had left Ansu out of the matchday squad for a game earlier this month and sent him a serious message that he needs to improve on all fronts.

Given the situation, Fati’s future has become extremely unclear, with speculations linking him with a loan move to Valencia and Sevilla in La Liga in the summer.

Ansu to wait before making a decision

However, a fresh update from Estadio Deportivo reports that Ansu is in no hurry to make a decision over his future right away.

Instead, the 21-year-old will wait until the end of the season and see how the managerial situation at Barcelona unfolds before taking a call.

As things stand, Xavi is set to leave Barça at the end of the season, having made his announcement in January itself. But the club are trying hard to convince him to continue.

So, Fati prefers to wait and see who the manager is at Barcelona – Xavi or someone new – before deciding on his future.

Focused on finishing the season strongly

De Zerbi’s words have not entirely gone down well within Fati’s camp. But despite that, the player remains focused on improving himself and finishing the season strongly.

That is the sole focus of the La Masia graduate for now and any decision regarding his future will be made once it becomes clear as to who will be Barcelona’s manager next season.

Sevilla are aware of the situation and are keeping tabs on Ansu, with the view of taking him on loan. Fati, having grown up in the region, would be open to a move.
