‘Best thing that can happen to me’ – Pau Cubarsi celebrates signing long-term Barcelona deal
Pau Cubarsi has revealed his happiness after signing a new long-term contract with Barcelona.
The 17-year-old has put pen to paper on a new deal that runs until 2027 and includes a buyout clause set at €500 million.
The move secures the teenager’s long-term future after a stellar breakout season and he couldn’t be happier at the news.
“Thank you very much, first of all I am very happy because it has been a dream since childhood to extend my contract with Futbol Club Barcelona. It’s the best thing that could happen to me and I’m very happy about it,” he said.
“The truth is that I just wanted to play football, have fun, and as the years have passed I have been able to see it more clearly and that’s why I’m very happy.
“I am very, very happy for the opportunities the club is giving us, for me and my colleagues such as Marc Guiu, Hector and all. We are trying to make the most of them and we are trying to give our best on the pitch to be able to earn more minutes.
“My goal is to keep being myself, keep working every day in training, every match and keep improving.”
Cubarsi has made 20 appearances for the first team already this season and will be back in action on Monday when Barca take on Real Sociedad in La Liga.
