Chadi Riad in the dark about Barcelona return as Real Betis star talks future
Chadi Riad admits he has “no idea” if he will return to Barcelona in the summer amid speculation the Catalans want to activate a buy-back clause in his contract.
The defender moved to Betis in the summer and has gone on to play regularly for Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the Spanish top flight.
It’s been claimed Barca want to use the €7 million buy-back clause in his deal to bring him back to Camp Nou, but Riad says he doesn’t know what will happen this summer.
“Well, I don’t know; I’m very comfortable here. I wouldn’t know what to tell you, many things can change,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“To be honest, I have no idea. My representatives are talking about it and I’ll see. At the moment I’m still thinking about Betis.
“I am very happy. I did not expect that in my first year as a professional I would have such a season. I owe it to my teammates.”
It will be interesting to see what happens with Riad this summer, particularly following Pau Cubarsi’s emergence and speculation continuing over Ronald Araujo’s future at the club.
