CM: Milan, Liverpool, Barcelona or Brighton

The managerial situation at AC Milan has still not exited the cycle that it was in several months ago. Stefano Pioli’s seemingly never-ending cycle situation continues and with the continuation, there is still a stream of reports about different managerial candidates who are in the pipeline to replace him.

Stefano Pioli recently buried his flag in the sand after his words following the presentation of his award for 100 league wins with Milan.

Antonio Conte, who revealed his desire to return to management, and Thiago Motta continue to be heavily linked with the post, but nothing concrete has emerged about their position, or more importantly, the one of the club.

Another name that has been continually linked, is Roberto De Zerbi. As Calciomercato.com write, there are several options open to the Italian and several parties interested in his services. However, there are no guarantees about where he may be next season.

Liverpool are an obvious candidate, given the similarities between the Italian’s style of play and Jurgen Klopp’s. There is a lot of admiration for him, and their issue is not the financial side, but much like the rest of the teams involved in this headhunt, the competition.

Barcelona are another interested party, given their similar situation to Liverpool. De Zerbi is an ideal candidate to spearhead the new project, given his ability to mould young talent into high-quality players.

In Italy, there are several interested parties. Roma will consider the performance of Daniele De Rossi, Napoli will look to tempt him to move to the club, and Juventus see him as a candidate to replace Massimiliano Allegri.

Alongside those clubs interested in the Brighton manager is, of course, the Rossoneri. The report states that De Zerbi is not the primary target, instead stating that the preferred candidates are Conte and Motta. However, should Pioli’s tenure end in June, he is being considered.

There is another, rather large obstacle, though. De Zerbi is perfectly happy with his situation with the Seagulls, and there have been discussions about a new contract, but he admitted that nothing had been agreed. However, the focus remains on the pitch currently, with his future taking a backseat, at least for now.
