Daily Schmankerl: Bayern Munich, PSG to spar for AC Milan star Theo Hernandez?; FC Barcelona wants Martin Zubimendi over Joshua Kimmich?; Matthijs de Ligt and Mats Hummels recognized for UCL efforts; Daniel Peretz on the verge of a loan; and MORE!

Bayern Munich has been linked to AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies, should the Canadian leave the club for Real Madrid this summer.

The Bavarians are not the only club eyeing up Hernandez, though.

Paris Saint-Germain could be seeking to reunite Hernandez with his brother — and former Bayern Munich defender — Lucas:

Paris Saint-Germain have adopted a new transfer policy that prioritizes French talent. Last summer, the capital club landed Lucas Hernandez, and now the Ligue 1 side could be looking to land his brother, Theo Hernandez, this summer.

The Parisians have Nuno Mendes, but he has dealt with injuries, and manager Luis Enrique will need to decide whether the Portugal international is the starting left-back for the foreseeable future.

Nonetheless, Corriere della Serra (h/t Sport.fr) reports the Parisian club has expressed an interest in the 26-year-old left-back, who is under contract with AC Milan until June 2026.

PSG could face a hurdle as reports from the Spanish press have suggested that a deal between Theo Hernandez and Bayern Munich is in the works. It will be interesting to see if the Serie A side can extend the player if not, then a sale might have to occur.

This season, Hernandez has played in 44 matches across all competitions while scoring five goals and recording 10 assists for AC Milan.

Lucas Hernandez suffered a torn ACL in PSG’s Champions League semifinal loss against Borussia Dortmund, so a reunion for the brothers might not happen immediately in Paris. However, Bayern Munich could alter those plans by making a play for the 26-year-old.

All of this for Bayern Munich hinges on Davies and his decision on what he wants. A longer stay in Bavaria or a jaunt into the great unknown of the transfer market?

One of the potential landing spots for Joshua Kimmich if he leaves Bayern Munich is FC Barcelona.

However, Barca could be eyeing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi instead of Kimmich:

Since Sergio Busquets’ departure from the Catalan club, this position has been a clear weakness in Xavi’s team, and there are two players in particular whom the Blaugranes wish to take this role, i.e., Joshua Kimmich and Martin Zubimendi.

The latter of these players is Xavi’s favorite for this role and has been desirous of his inclusion in his squad since the last summer. This year, Barcelona seem to be once again working on getting the Real Sociedad midfielder, as SPORT reports that a meeting between Deco and the player’s agent took place last Monday.

While this meeting went on with good harmony between the two parties, the discussions did not paint an entirely rosy picture for the Catalans. Barcelona let the player’s agent know that he is the highest target on their list, even ahead of Kimmich.

Kimmich’s future will certainly be a hot topic at Bayern Munich this summer. Will the Bavarians be able to work something out — and will Kimmich want that? Whoever Bayern Munich hires in the coming days or weeks will probably have a large effect on that.

Bayern Munich traveled to Spain with a lot of hope, but played like it was hopeless for much of the match.

After Bayern Munich had taken a 1-0 lead, the squad collapsed in the worst possible way.

It was heartbreaking, dramatic, and altogether shocking. Bayern Munich eventually lost 2-1 (4-3 on aggregate), so let’s just get to it (and maybe put on “Taps” in the background):

  • A look at Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI and how the changes impacted the team’s performance.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions, including yet another injury for Serge Gnabry.
  • Bayern Munich stunningly poor play eventually caught up to it.

  • How the Real Madrid Mystique came into effect once again as Bayern Munich was not just hosed once, but twice!
  • Are you still reeling from the second Real Madrid goal? We are.

Chelsea FC attacker Hakim Ziyech will not be heading back to the club as he will stay with Galatasaray and make his loan a permanent deal:

Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt showed why he is one of the top center-backs in the world against Real Madrid and was recognized by WhoScored.com for his efforts:

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels was named Player of the Round:

Bayern Munich has been left reeling after its dramatic (and frustrating) Champions League elimination at the hands of Real Madrid.

Now, the Bavarians must find a way to regroup and finish off its Bundesliga season in a strong manner. It will not be easy, though, as Wolfsburg has experienced a resurgence under Ralph Hasenhüttl.

It looks increasingly likely that Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz is headed out on a loan this summer. Anderlecht, Bondby, and FC Copenhagen are all options;

Daniel #Peretz, on the verge to leave FC Bayern in summer on loan. Just as it was always planned, so he can get playing time.

➡️ Concrete talks with @rscanderlecht – confirmed!

@BrondbyIF and @FCKobenhavn are also in the race. Both clubs have inquired about him.

There is still no agreement with any team. Bayern are very pleased with Peretz and his performances in training.

Manchester United could be looking at a squad overhaul of its own and is looking to ship Casemiro off to Saudi Arabia:

Manchester United are hoping to sell Casemiro this summer and are hopeful he will give the green light to a move to the Saudi Pro League. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr failed with a January move for the midfielder but could reignite their interest.
