Barcelona sporting director Deco has rejected speculation the club could be tempted to cash in on Pedri in the summer.
The rumor mill has claimed this week that Barca are willing to offload the midfielder as they do not feel he is developing and are frustrated with his injury record.
Deco was asked about Pedri before kick-off against Girona and says Barcelona are counting on the midfielder for the future.
“Pedri is a fundamental player for the future, we do not want to lose him,” he told DAZN.
“We are not worried about his physical condition. He is doing specific work to recover well. The important thing is that he finishes the season well.”
Pedri was left out of the starting XI against Girona, with Xavi opting instead for a midfield of Ilkay Gundogan, Sergi Roberto, Fermin Lopez and Andreas Christensen.
