FC Barcelona Legend Confirms He’d Like To Return To Club

FC Barcelona legend Luis Enrique confirmed that he’d like to return to the club one day in a Twitch session on Thursday.

After leaving the Catalans’ bitter rivals Real Madrid, the Spaniard made his bones at Camp Nou both as a player and head coach.

In the latter role with the Blaugrana, he oversaw their last Champions League crown and treble in 2014/2015 with an attack led by the iconic ‘MSN’ trio made up of South Americans Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Luis Enrique and his current employers Paris Saint-Germain stand in the way of Barca making progress on the continent this term, with the charismatic figure describing a quarterfinal tie between the two outfits next month as him “coming home, like at Christmas”.

Reopening his Twitch account, the 53-year-old revealed he’d like to do that in a full-time capacity one day and once more take the reins in Catalonia.

“I’ve always said I’d like to, but the reality is that it’s very challenging to make it happen. They might need a coach now,” Luis Enrique said, in a nod to Xavi Hernandez stepping down on June 30.

“But I have a rule to honor my contracts and the trust people have in me. I won’t be the one to break that contract. It’s not my style, and I never will.”

With experiences in Spain, Italy and now France, Luis Enrique also wants to test his mettle in England one day.

“I’d like to,” he said about taking a job in the PremierPINC League. “I was in talks with two clubs before joining PSG. Right now, I’m fully focused on PSG. I’m learning French, and it’s one of my motivations. Learning their language means immersing myself in their culture.”

Talking about his foray into international football, Luis Enrique said that managing Spain was a “unique experience and it made us grow a lot as a staff”.

“[We gained] a lot of knowledge and I worked with people who gave me all the trust and support. Of course I would return to the national team, without a doubt,” he confirmed.
