FC Barcelona Receives Rare Injury Recovery Good News

FC Barcelona has received some rare good news regarding the recovery progress and expected comeback from injury of one of its star players according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited anonymous sources.

Barca’s downturn in fortunes in 2023/2024 began when losing El Clasico 2-1 to Real Madrid at the Montjuic Stadium thanks to a second-half Jude Bellingham double.

Gavi was seen weeping after the Blaugrana’s first loss of the season, and further tears followed when he ruptured his ACL while on international duty for Spain in mid-November which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

At the weekend, his close friend Pedri also couldn’t prevent the waterworks from being turned on when suffering a reoccurrence of his right thigh knock in San Mames.

Frenkie de Jong twisted his ankle earlier in the same first half of an eventual 0-0 draw with Athletic Club, meaning that head coach Xavi is now without three of his best players in the center of the park.

While as mentioned Gavi won’t be seen in action again until next term, AS reported that De Jong will miss four to five weeks and Pedri five to six.

Elsewhere, though, doubts crept in that Pedri might – like Gavi – have to call it a day this season but they have been alleviated.

This is because according to Mundo Deportivo, Pedri hasn’t suffered a large tear in his thigh leading Barca to believe that he can return for El Clasico at the Bernabeu on April 21.

Though Barca are currently eight points off the chase at the summit, the next installment of the world’s biggest derby might still prove to be decisive.

If not, and his side have fallen further behind, Pedri can still help them try and finish second in the table which brings guaranteed qualification to the Champions League and next season’s edition of the Spanish Super Cup which provides a considerable payday for the country’s two biggest teams.

It will also be a blessing for Pedri to finally be available towards the business end of the season, which he hasn’t managed in the last three terms in a trend that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the club according to AS and has led it to not rule out a potential sale this summer.
