FC Barcelona to face Unionistas de Salamanca in the Copa del Rey last 16
After knocking out Barbastro in the last 32 of the Copa del Rey on Sunday, Monday saw the draw for the next round of the competition with FC Barcelona to face Unionistas de Salamanca.
The last 16 tie will be played on Wednesday 17 January at 9pm CET or Thursday 18 January at 7.30pm CET, depending on whether Barça reach the final of the Spanish Super Cup or not, at the Campo de Futbol Reina Sofía stadium.
In same division as Barça Atlètic
Unionistas de Salamanca were founded as recently as 2013 and they have reached the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after victories against Gernika, second division Sporting de Gijón and first division club Villarreal in a penalty shoot out in the last 32 in a tie that was played over two days to a floodlight failure at their home ground.
The Primera RFEF club are in the same group as Barça Atlètic and Unionistas faced Rafa Márquez’s side last week at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. The visitors took a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Slavy and Álvaro Gómez.
