Five key stats from Barcelona 3-3 Granada: Lamine Yamal continues to break records

Barcelona stumbled to a 3-3 draw against relegation battlers Granada in La Liga last night at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

After back-to-back wins over Osasuna and Alaves, the Blaugrana were expected to secure all three points on Sunday, more so considering that Granada have been struggling all season.

But it was not to be as the 19th-placed team gave the reigning champions a run for their money and walked away with a point from Catalonia, piling the pressure on Barcelona.

It was a night to forget defensively for Xavi Hernandez’s men for they conceded three goals yet again with errors at the back.

It meant that Barcelona have now conceded 23 goals in 11 games in 2024 across all competitions, more than any other team from the top five European leagues since the start of 2024.

The result also meant that Barcelona are now without a win against Granada in their previous five matches (D4 L1), with the last victory coming way back in February 2021, in a Copa del Rey clash.

Amidst the disappointment, Lamine Yamal shone through as the only silver lining for Barça last night as the 16-year-old wonderkid put in a stellar display in attack, capped off with two well-taken goals.

Yamal’s brace meant that he became the first player to score three goals before the age of 17 in La Liga history. Ansu Fati (2) was the player with the most goals before 17 in the competition previously.

The La Masia wonderkid also became the youngest player to score a brace in La Liga history with his double against Granada.

On top of that, Yamal also became the youngest player to reach +10 G/A contributions at the age 16 years and 213 days.
