Barcelona star winger injured during Super Cup semi-final vs Osasuna

Barcelona have dealt with a blow during the Spanish Super Cup semi-final contest against Osasuna as they have lost a key player to injury.

Indeed, five minutes from half-time, the Blaugrana were forced to take off star winger Raphinha due to an injury, with Lamine Yamal coming on to replace the Brazilian international.

Raphinha, 27, was preferred over Yamal on the right flank by Xavi Hernandez for the big game against Osasuna tonight.

And the Brazilian looked in decent touch in the opening stages of the contest as he tried to make things happen for his team in the final third.

However, with 40 minutes up on the clock, the former Leeds United winger was in discomfort and could not carry on any longer, forcing Xavi to replace him with Yamal.

This is a concerning development for Barcelona considering that they have a slew of important matches lined up in the coming weeks.

The reigning La Liga champions are already without Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Joao Cancelo, Gavi, Inigo Martinez, and Marcos Alonso, all of whom are injured.

Only today, Pedri had received his medical green light, but it appears that his place in the infirmary will now be taken by Raphinha.
