Injury update: Bad news for Barcelona as midfield duo will not make it for PSG

Barcelona recently came out with a comfortable 1-0 win over Las Palmas courtesy of Raphinha’s second-half header.

But the Catalan giants will soon have a much bigger fish to fry in PSG, who are presently atop Ligue 1 and possess one of the world’s best players: Kylian Mbappe.

Given that winning La Liga largely depends on how their rivals Real Madrid fare, Barcelona are hopeful to go all the way in the Champions League.

And for that dream to become a reality, the presence of their key players will provide a major boost.

Unfortunately, the Catalan giants are in the absence of some of their most important players for this clash, which include Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong.

Return against PSG is unfeasible

Although there’s been anticipation surrounding the potential return of midfield duo Pedri and Frenkie, reports from MARCA suggest that their comeback before the first leg against PSG seems increasingly unlikely.

Barcelona recognizes the importance of both players, but the club also promises that they will not force their return since they do not want relapses.

Given the players’ past with injuries, Barça will avoid taking chances that imperil their future fitness by pushing themselves past deadlines.

Pedri has resumed training on the grass, while Frenkie is reportedly feeling positive about his progress. Still, the doctors at the club do not want to set any dates regarding their return.

Looking at the bright side

Taking a more optimistic outlook, though, Barcelona can take a sigh of relief knowing Andreas Christensen will be available in the upcoming game against PSG.

The Danish stalwart missed the last encounter against Las Palmas due to discomfort, but his recovery is progressing smoothly.

Moreover, Ferran Torres recently made his long-awaited comeback, coming off the bench against Las Palmas.

Although a start against PSG is unlikely, Ferran’s presence off the bench would be a major plus point for the Blaugranes.
