Laporta dreams of seeing a Barcelona lineup full of La Masia players at Camp Nou before tenure ends

Barcelona take great pride in their academy and the number of talents that La Masia churns out year after year.

From the great era of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, and Sergio Busquets, to the present time where the likes of Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Ronald Araujo, and Lamine Yamal have become household names, La Masia has always provided for Barcelona.

Laporta’s greatest dream

As such, Barça president Joan Laporta has a great dream of seeing a team filled with La Masia players take the field for a game at the new Spotify Camp Nou, before his tenure ends.

This claim comes from Laia Tudel of Cat Radio, who claims that the Barcelona president is eager to see a starting XI full of La Masia talents or even players like Pedri and Vitor Roque who arrived at the club at a very young age even though they did not go through the academy.

The first time that a team full of La Masia players was seen was back in 2012 when Tito Vilanova was managed and Sandro Rosell was the president.

It was a game against Levante which saw Dani Alves start as the only non-homegrown talent before the Brazilian was replaced by Martin Montoya due to an injury.

This was the lineup that was on the field at that instance: Víctor Valdés, Martín Montoya, Gerard Piqué, Carles Puyol, Jordi Alba, Xavi Hernández, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fàbregas and Pedro Rodríguez.

And Laporta is eager to see such an instance repeat once the new Camp Nou is ready before his tenure ends in 2026. In fact, as per the report, the Barça president even has a lineup in his mind that he visualised.

In goal, he mentioned one of Ander Astralaga or Diego Kochen, both of whom are seen as the future of the club’s goalkeeping department.

The defence would be made of Hector Fort, Ronald Araujo, and Alejandro Balde, with Chadi Riad, currently at Real Betis, but who can be re-signed for €7 million, also being in the president’s thoughts. Pau Cubarsi, now a regular in the first team, would also be an option.

Pedri, Gavi, and Fermin Lopez would form the midfield with Marc Casado an option while Lamine Yamal, Vitor Roque, and Marc Guiu would round up the frontline.
