Luis Enrique names Barcelona players good enough to start for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has confessed a number of Barcelona players are good enough to start for his current side.

Enrique has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona and recently confessed he hopes to take charge at Camp Nou once again, adding some extra fuel to the fire ahead of next month’s Champions League showdown between the two teams.

Currently streaming on Twitch during the international break, Enrique did not shy away from his admiration for the current Barcelona squad and insisted there are a whole host of players good enough to start for any team in the world.

Singled out for praise were Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Pedri, Ilkay Gundogan, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski.

“Not only at PSG, but also at Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Arsenal,” Enrique stressed.

Enrique’s PSG contract runs until 2025 and the 53-year-old recently vowed not to disrespect his current employers by exploring a move to another club while he remains tied to the Ligue 1 giants.

The timing was a source of frustration for Enrique, who confessed he would have been interested last summer if Barcelona were looking for a manager at that point, rather than this summer.

He will get a close look at Barcelona’s stars when they travel to Parc des Princes on April 10 for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. The return leg is scheduled for April 16, with a place in the semi-final against either Atletico Madrid or Borussia Dortmund at stake.
