Pau Cubarsi signs new Barcelona contract until 2027 with new buyout clause set at €500m

Barcelona have confirmed that Pau Cubarsi has signed a new contract with the club that runs until 2027. The deal also sees the defender’s buyout clause rise from €10m to €500m.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“FC Barcelona and Pau Cubarsí have reached an agreement to extend the centre back’s contract with the club through to 30 June 2027. The player’s buyout clause has been set at 500 million euros.

“The defender put pen to paper this Thursday morning at an event also attended by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta; first vice-president Rafa Yuste; the director responsible for youth football, Joan Soler; and sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.”

The new deal is a reward for a stunning season for Cubarsi. The teenager has broken into the first team and become a regular in the heart of the defence.

Cubarsi has made 20 appearances in all competitions and has also been called into the senior Spain squad, making his debut in March against Colombia.
