Real Madrid TV attacks Xavi, Laporta after dropping points vs Atletico: “They will be happy tonight”

The relationship between Barcelona and Real Madrid has further deteriorated in recent months, with the clubs trading barbs off the field quite regularly.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta and manager Xavi Hernandez have been very vocal about Real Madrid TV, the club’s official media channel, publishing videos criticising referees before and after matches.

The Barça president and manager see it as a tactic to put pressure on match officials and earn favourable treatment – something they believe happened in the game against Almeria last month. Laporta has even gone as far as stating that the competition has been ‘adulterated’ as a result.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid TV had already attacked Xavi once, questioning his career due to the Negreira case.

And following last night’s derby against Atletico Madrid when their team was held to a 1-1 draw, Real Madrid TV once again chose to lash out at Xavi and Laporta, along with the referee during the game.

Lashing out at the referee in a video, Real Madrid TV stated (h/t SPORT): “This man who blew the whistle today? Does he have the conscience to sleep well tonight? Always in favour of the Colchonero team. They would be terrifying. Atleti is the club most favoured by the referees in this league..”

Shifting the focus to Xavi, these statements were made: “We have to remember that Xavi’s playing career is under suspicion because his matches are being investigated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and a judge. Just enough lessons, his whole career is under suspicion.”

Further continuing the attack on Barcelona, Real Madrid TV stated: “Adulterated league? You have to laugh. Fortunately, there is Real Madrid TV to prove things with evidence. If we manipulate, let someone go to court and denounce it. Here we are doing an exercise in transparency of what is happening.”

Concluding, they remarked: “What pressure Real Madrid TV puts on us. Three penalties and none given. Xavi and Laporta will be happy tonight. Against everything and everyone.”
