Report: Barcelona “pushing” for Xavi Simons loan as PSG set to decide midfielder’s future
Barcelona have been given hope in their bid to bring Xavi Simons back to the club this summer with the latest developments surrounding the future of the young Dutch midfielder and former Barça academy product.
Fabrizio Romano offered a fresh update on Xavi’s situation on Friday and says Simons is most likely to be loaned again by Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as a permanent transfer to RB Leipzig is not financially viable for the German club.
A loan is the most likely option, with several clubs obviously keen on securing the services of the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.
Xavi Simons and PSG will decide future before the Euros — but PSG don’t want to sell Xavi this summer.
Also, RB Leipzig can’t afford permanent move.

The key piece of information in Fabrizio’s report is that Simons “will have a say” in the loan decision, which should excite Barça fans given the recent reports that Xavi himself is keen on a return to Catalonia and that the Blaugrana are his number one option.
Coach Xavi Hernández has asked for Simons’ signing as well, and sporting director Deco appears to be on board with the move. All indications are there is a strong likelihood that Xavi Simons will be a Barça player on loan next season, and with PSG and the player wanting to decide his future before the Euros we might have the final developments of this saga taking place very soon.
