Report: Bayern Munich still keeping a close eye on FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong

According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is continuing to keep a close eye on FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has been a longtime target for the Bavarians:

Frenkie de Jong remains on Bayern’s list and the club is monitoring his situation, but he’s not one of the top candidates as he’s not a classic holding midfielder, which is the priority position Bayern want to strengthen.

Of all of the times that Bayern Munich has been linked to De Jong, this one feel like it could be the most legitimate. The Bavarians could be in the midst of a squad refresh and the Dutchman would certainly bring a different look to the Bayern Munich midfield.

Just about the issue could be the hefty transfer fee that FC Barcelona is expected to ask for De Jong.
