Rival watch: PSG dealt fresh injury concern ahead of Barcelona encounter

In four days, Barcelona and PSG will be locking horns at Parc des Princes in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

It promises to be a blockbuster encounter between two teams with some history of rivalry between them with a lot on the line.

Ahead of the big game, though, PSG have been handed a fresh injury concern, causing some worry for Luis Enrique & co.

Nordi Mukiele suffers injury

Indeed, as per SPORT, PSG defender Nordi Mukiele suffered an injury during their Ligue 1 clash against Clermont earlier today.

Luis Enrique opted to make some major rotations for today’s match with an eye on the Barcelona encounter.

As part of the rotations, Mukiele started at right-back, replacing Achraf Hakimi in the starting XI, even though the former was the likely candidate to start against Barça as the latter is suspended.

Just eight minutes into the match, though, Mukiele was involved in an unfortunate collision with the Clermont goalkeeper which left him with a bloody mouth.

The clashing of heads meant that the PSG medical staff forced him to withdraw from the pitch as per concussion protocols despite Mukiele insisting on continuing.

Now, it remains to be seen if Mukiele is fit and available to face Barcelona on Wednesday and whether he receives the clearance from the team’s medical staff.

In case Mukiele is not ready and with Hakimi also suspended, there is speculation in France that Warren Zaire-Emery could be asked to slot in at right-back for the big blockbuster clash.
