Sergi Roberto expected to sign new Barcelona contract imminently
Sergi Roberto is set to sign a new contract renewal at Barcelona imminently and the deal could even be announced as early as next week.
Earlier this season it appeared that Roberto would leave at the end of the season but things have changed and he is now expected to continue for another year.
Relevo are reporting that both parties are in agreement over Roberto’s future and the deal could be closed within days.
Xavi has been a vocal backer of Roberto. He has said publicly on several occasions that Barca should offer the veteran a new deal and that now looks set to happen.
The 32-year-old also played down exit talk earlier in this season and made it clear his priority was to continue in Catalunya.
Roberto has gone on to play 20 times in all competitions this season for Barca, scoring against Granada and Almeria and also picking up assists against Las Palmas and Napoli.
