Sergi Roberto eyeing first title as captain

Sergi Roberto‘s words reflected those of Xavi Hernández as he spoke the media about Sunday’s Super Cup Final. “We’d love to play as well as we did in last year’s final” he said. “We want to control the ball and be better than Madrid in every corner of the field.”

“After being at the club since I was 14, I’m especially excited about tomorrow because it’s my first chance to win a title as first captain. But a Clásico is always a big leveller. There is so much rivalry and Madrid are a very strong team, so we’ll need to give it 100% in every aspect, and also be very aware of what Madrid are able to do on the counter attack.”

“Winning the Super Cup would be a turning point and would give us the boost we need to go on and fight for trophies at the end of the season.”

Fun in the middle

“I’ve played in midfield since I was young and in recent years have been filling in there with Barça too, sometimes more than at full back. I’m really enjoying playing there. I just hope I get to play more games so I can keep helping the team.”

“As long as the club needs me, I’ll be here.”
