Sergi Roberto’s agent pushing for new two-year contract at Barcelona

Sergi Roberto is set to sign a new contract at Barcelona with the only thing holding up an official announcement being a debate over the length of the renewal.

The Barcelona captain’s agent is said to be pushing for a new two-year contract, but the Catalans have only offered terms for the next 12 months, according to Mundo Deportivo.

There’s a suggestion that Roberto’s agent could also try for a one-year deal with the option of one more.

Roberto turned 32 in February but has made it clear he wants to stay at the club for now and clearly has Xavi’s backing.

The Barcelona manager has said on several occasions that he wants the club to secure his future and offer him a new deal.

Roberto has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Xavi’s side.

His latest outing ended with Roberto apologizing to fans after producing a dreadful error as Barcelona were beaten 4-2 by Girona in La Liga.
