Tebas clashes with the CEO of the Super League after his attempt to reach out to him

THE ‘PALO’ OF THEBAS TO BERND REICHART

The debates around the Superliga European seem not having end. After the verdict of the Court of Justice of the European Union, that failed the past 21 December against the monopoly that the UEFA exerts on the competitions of European football, has generated a remarkable stir of opinions that persists until the day of today and seems that it will continue in the time.

Recently, it has produced a crossing of opinions between Javier Thebes, president of LaLiga and one of the main detractores of this tournament, and Bernd Reichart, CEO of To22 Sports Management, the company behind the Superliga. Reichart, in an interview with ‘Sportive World’, expressed opinions that apparently were interpreted as ‘attacks’ to the football of League and that were not very received by the mandator of the patronal.

What said recently the CEO of the Superliga?

In the extensive conversation with ‘MD’, the German, although it did not mention directly to LaLiga, sent a message that seems to try convince to the presidents of the domestic contests that the Superliga would be beneficial for them. “The Superliga does not invade to the national calendar, joins up and keeps the competitive dynamics to classify with a good domestic year for the Superliga. This strengthens to clubs that go back with economic resources and with the best talents to his domestic league. They can do better staff and can keep, or retain or fichar talents. And this retroalimenta and revitaliza also the domestic league”, aseveró.

Equally, the CEO of To22, spoke directly of Javier Thebes, expressing the type of relation that would like him have with him: “Obviously, it would wish that had the most open mind and that opened to a possibility that can strengthen big part of his competition. What he saw always with worry was that a European league more attractive could raise him or remove audiovisual income to the domestic league”, began saying.

The germano also left clear that are not to compete and that both competitions can coexistir of positive way. “We do not go to compete by the budgets neither of the television operator neither of the viewer that pays by the credit, because our proposal bases in a platform and in an access to the parties free. He said that “the Superliga removes me a piece of my cake”, but now we say: “it Takes the cake, neither touch it, everything for you. The budget of the credited and the budget of the operator, everything for you”. We go to monetizar with an innovative model, with the ambition of a platform that joins to the fans of all the world with his clubs”, concluded.

The ‘stick’ of Thebes to answer to Reichart

These statements apparently have not had any impact in Javier Thebes, the one who answered of conclusive way in his social networks: “In 2019 already they tried us ‘colar’ a format of competition very similar to the that now advocates @To22Sports, but this still is worse. You will not achieve to deceive us“. This message went accompanied of two emoticonos that did reference to Pinocho, insinuating that all what says is lie.

This tuit included a video in which it criticises the format proposed by the Superliga by not to consider it ‘based in the merit’, since the clubs could not access to this competition by the achieved in national competitions, what, according to Thebes, would subtract interest to the national leagues.

Hours afterwards, Javier Thebes went further and later called to Bernd Reichart with ‘Bernd Copperfield’, in allusion to the North American illusionist David Copperfield, insinuating that the proposals of Reichart for the Superliga are like tricks of magic. “Bernd Copperfield, the CEO of @To22Sports, makes remarkable tricks of magic, like improving the national leagues, the gobernanza, OTT free… However, desconoce that many of these tricks already were taught by another magician known as ‘the be upper’ in 2019, and again in the 2021, without attaining deceive us”, concluded.
