Deco critical of Xavi’s decisions after Barcelona’s defeat to Girona

Barcelona sporting director Deco was openly critical of Xavi after the team’s dismal defeat to Girona last time out in La Liga.

Joan Laporta’s frustration at the result has already been revealed, with the Barcelona president overheard screaming in frustration, and it seems Deco was also unimpressed.

However, Catalunya Radio are reporting that Deco’s criticism was reserved solely for the coach and that he “did not hesitate to criticize Xavi’s decisions.”

The 46-year-old’s “words and gestures” were noticed by those around him as he made his displeasure at the performance known.

The result has thrust Xavi into the spotlight once again, just days after the club confirmed he would be staying on after all for another season.

Xavi’s decision to sidelined Vitor Roque, and insist he could go out on loan, has led to the player’s agent hitting out and claiming a permanent transfer could be sought.

There have been other instances of the disconnect between Xavi and Deco, which Luis explains here, and it certainly is not a great situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
