Laporta pays tribute to Johan Cruyff’s lasting impact, 8 years after his passing

On March 24, 2016 Johan Cruyff, FC Barcelona legend and a key figure both as a player between 1973 and 1978 and as a coach between 1988 and 1996, passed away, leaving a lasting impact on the club’s success. On the eighth anniversary of his death, Joan Laporta, a close friend of the Dutchman who advised him during his first term as president from 2003 to 2010, spoke highly of his legacy.

“Johan Cruyff was loved and admired. And he always will be because his influence is timeless,” the president of FC Barcelona shared on his social media.

The club also paid tribute to Johan Cruyff as an institution: “8 years without @JohanCruyff. His legacy continues to inspire us.”
