Xavi asks Deco to try and bring Xavi Simons back to Barcelona
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has reportedly asked Deco to try and bring La Masia graduate Xavi Simons back to the club.
Simons was one of the club’s most highly-rated young talents when he left Barcelona in 2019 for PSG and has been linked with a return before.
Diario Sport are reporting that Xavi has asked Deco to negotiate with Paris Saint-Germain, although there appears to be little chance of pulling off a deal.
Simons has spent the season on loan in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, scoring seven goals and bagging 11 assists so far.
The 21-year-old is due back to PSG in the summer, where he has a contract until 2027, and Luis Enrique wants to take a check on the youngster in pre-season.
There’s a suggestion that a loan with a purchase option could be proposed to PSG but a sense there’s little chance of the French side agreeing, particularly during a summer where they are set to lose Kylian Mbappe.
