FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez is not having the best time as the Blaugrana suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup and were knocked out of Copa del Rey (CDR) after losing to Atheltic Bilbao 4-2 recently.

Rumours about the club looking for the former midfielder’s replacement have started to circulate and there seems to be no end of them until the end of the season.

Barcelona’s injury concerns and the form of key players like Lewandowski increased Xavi’s worries as the Spaniard has now started to put his trust more in the youth.

During Barca’s last two games, Xavi surprisingly took Lewandowski off against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao as the Catalan club was looking for a goal. A clear indication that the Polish striker is losing his manager’s trust.

Xavi was asked if Lewandowski’s numbers have started to shake to which he replied while he is scoring goals, there have been problems with his fitness as he is not as sharp as he was earlier this season.

“In the last four games, he has scored three goals, perhaps there is a feeling that he is not sharp in his controls or giving the final pass. He will continue to be important, he is a natural leader,” Xavi said.

“We must improve and the locker room is very united. I have not seen a human quality like it. We have to be more concentrated in the first minutes and we are looking for solutions so that the season ends up being a good one.”

Lewandowski is not having the best time at the Catalan club this season as in 28 appearances across competitions this season, the Pole found the back of the net 13 times and managed to provide five assists.

While these numbers are decent for a striker, Barca fans and Xavi demand more from Lewandowski due to his stature of being one of the best players in the world.
