Xavi Simons wants to return to Barcelona, has a special clause in his contract

RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons has expressed his desire to return to Barcelona, the club where he began his professional career, reports Mundo Deportivo

Simons currently has a provision in his contract that allows him to have a say in which club he can be loaned out to. With this option available, he has set his sights on a move back to Barcelona.

This move would see him return to the club he knows well and where he spent a significant portion of his early development as a football player.

What kind of provision does Xavi have?

The potential for Xavi Simons to join Barcelona on loan for the upcoming season presents a promising opportunity, despite the differences between Barça and PSG.

It is said that Simons’ contractual terms allow him to choose his next destination through a loan arrangement. This opens the door for a potential return to Barcelona, with the club considering it a financially viable option.

Barcelona are keen on signing him due to his midfield talent, reminiscent of players like Dani Olmo or Nico Williams.

It is to be noted that Simons trained at La Masia, and his father admired Xavi Hernandez. This history has naturally linked Simons to the club from a young age.

Simons to meet PSG

Simons and his agent are set to meet with PSG’s president, Nasser Al Khelaifi, to discuss a possible loan move to Barça.

The Dutch midfielder’s ties to Barcelona are deepened by his friendships with current players such as Alejandro Balde, and he is enthusiastic about fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing for Barça’s first team.

At present, a loan transfer seems the most feasible option for Simons to join Barcelona, as a permanent transfer could be costly, with reports suggesting PSG would demand at least €100 million.

This is why a loan deal aligns with Simons’ contractual clause. This clause allows him to leave on loan, potentially paving the way for his return to Barça.
