Official: Barcelona confirm hamstring injury to star forward, out of El Clasico vs Real Madrid

Barcelona secured a 2-0 win over CA Osasuna last night to book a place in the finals of the Spanish Super Cup. But the victory came at a cost as they lost star winger Raphinha to an injury.

The 27-year-old had to be taken off late in the first half as he could not carry on after struggling with discomfort in his left leg.

Now, Barcelona have issued an official statement confirming the nature of the Brazilian international’s injury, stating that he has sustained a problem in his left hamstring.

“Tests carried out today have shown that Raphinha has a left hamstring injury. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability,” the statement from the club read.

While Barça have not provided a timescale for his return, all signs point towards Raphinha missing the upcoming El Clasico against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Indeed, as per Alfredo Martinez, the Brazilian winger will not be able to return in time to face Real Madrid this Sunday. As to how long he will be out of action, more reports are awaited.

With the 27-year-old star winger out, Lamine Yamal has great chances of starting on the right flank in the Super Cup final against Real Madrid after he scored against Osasuna last night.
