Barcelona captain’s agents arrive in city, contract renewal and other offers will be discussed

With all the noise surrounding the future of Ronald Araujo at Barcelona, amid serious interest from Bayern Munich, the defender’s agents, Edmundo Kabchi and Edoardo Crnjar, have arrived in the Catalan capital, reports Jijantes FC.

Araujo, 24, is one of the most pivotal players for Barcelona and was deservedly made one of the club captains this season following the departures of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

The Uruguayan international has been a top performer, although his form has been a bit on and off in the current season, along with the rest of the Barça backline.

Bayern Munich have set their sights on Araujo heading into the summer window. The Bavarians made a play to sign the defender from Barcelona in January but their efforts came to nothing.

However, Thomas Tuchel & co. remain intent on the Barça captain for next season and are even prepared to shell out big money for him in the summer, while also offering the centre-back a lucrative salary to tempt him away from Catalonia.

Barcelona, for their part, are eager to avoid that scenario and want to hand Araujo a new and improved contract, with his current one running until 2026. It has previously been reported that contact had been made with his agent about a potential renewal.

Now, Kabchi and Crnjar have landed in Barcelona and will meet with Araujo where his possible renewal at Barcelona as well as the other offers that he has on the table will likely be discussed, as per the report.

Intriguingly, it must be noted that Araujo’s agents also happen to represent Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi – a target for Barcelona to replace Xavi Hernandez, although any move for the Italian is considered impossible in the summer.

There is nothing to indicate that Kabchi and Crnjar’s visit has anything to do with De Zerbi. As things stand, they are in Barcelona to meet with Araujo and discuss his contractual situation and offers.
