Barcelona fan favourite has a chance of being fit for Super Cup final, if team qualifies

Barcelona are all set to fly to Saudi Arabia tomorrow as they get set to defend their Spanish Super Cup crown in Riyadh.

Having won the trophy by beating Real Madrid in the finals last year, the Catalan heavyweights will be aiming to repeat the feat as they are in need of a confidence boost amidst a run of disappointing displays.

Barça will take on CA Osasuna in the semi-finals on Thursday night and will be slated to face one of Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the finals, should they beat Jagoba Arrasate’s men.

Pedri could return for finals

Now, Toni Juanmarti of SPORT is reporting that injured Barcelona midfielder Pedri has a chance of returning for the finals if the team ends up getting qualified.

Pedri has been out injured since mid-December with yet another muscle problem and at one point his involvement in the Spanish Super Cup was deemed unlikely.

However, the midfielder did part of the training session with the rest of the squad today, filling fans with the hope that he can play some part in Saudi Arabia.

It has already been reported that Barcelona will take both Pedri and Joao Cancelo, who is also injured, to the Middle East as part of the squad for the Super Cup.

And, as per the report, there is a chance that Pedri may end up returning in time for the finals, provided Barcelona qualify.

As for Cancelo, the level of optimism is not the same as that with Pedri, and the Portuguese may not make it to Sunday’s final.

For now, both players are pushing hard to make themselves available in the tournament, but the final call will be made on how they are feeling, with no risks being taken.
