Barcelona new arrival rejected a much bigger offer from Manchester City

There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Vitor Roque in the Barcelona camp recently. The forward joined the team after the turn of the year and comes with a great reputation.

Although Roque has endured a slightly rough start to his life at Barça, the forward’s immense potential makes him a vital part of this Barcelona unit.

However, if things had gone differently, Vitor Roque could have been plying his trade elsewhere this year, namely Manchester City.

Vitor Roque rejected Man City proposal

A recent revelation from Xavi Torres on OnzeTv3 suggests that Vitor Roque could have easily joined Manchester City.

The journalist adds that the Premier League giants were willing to offer more money to the former Athletico Paranaense starlet, prior to his move to Barcelona.

Man City’s interest in Roque was part of the club’s plan to add further depth to the attacking unit, even with the services of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

However, Xavi Torres adds that Vitor Roque had his heart set on a move to Barcelona. That is why he rejected the offer from Man City.

How has Roque fared so far?

Vitor Roque has appeared in both the matches Barcelona have played since he joined the club this year.

However, the Brazilian is yet to start a single game. As for his performances in the two matches, he had very little action against Las Palmas, though he did miss a goalscoring opportunity.

Roque had a much more difficult time in the Copa del Rey clash against Barbastro. He failed to make any real impact after coming on as a substitute in the second half.

These are still early days though and Roque will require more time to settle in.
