Barcelona lining up Bosman move for Stole Dimitrievski

Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 30-year-old Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski in a Bosman move this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Stole Dimitrievski is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions are in the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window amid Saudi Pro League interest in Marc-Andre ter Stegen. So, they might look to land the 30-year-old Rayo Vallecano star in a Bosman move.

Who is Stole Dimitrievski?

Stole Dimitrievski has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga in the last few years. The North Macedonia international spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the Rabotnicki youth division. But he had to wait until joining Rayo Vallecano before finding a stable footing in his career.

The 30-year-old has played his part in making Rayo Vallecano a mainstay in La Liga in the last few years. He has turned out 180 times thus far for Los Franjirrojos, keeping 51 clean sheets while conceding 225 goals. But Dimitrievski faces an uncertain future at Estadio de Vallecas heading into the summer transfer window.

The experienced goalkeeper, who has 62 international caps for North Macedonia, has entered the final six months of his contract with Rayo Vallecano. Such a situation has piqued the interest of one of the biggest clubs in the world, with Barcelona interested in completing a Bosman move in the summer.

Barcelona Calling?

Barcelona’s interest in Stole Dimitrievski stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Recent reports have claimed that the Blaugrana might cash in on the German international amid his emerging links with Saudi Pro League clubs. With the financial issues showing no signs of ending, Barcelona might have to sell some high-value assets.

But parting ways with ter Stegen will mean Barcelona will need a replacement. Several candidates, including Luis Maximiano, have thus emerged on their radar. But Dimitrievski is also a viable target for the reigning La Liga champions.

Dimitrievski’s potential free-agent status means Barcelona will save tons of money while replacing Marc-Andre ter Stegen. But it will be interesting to see if Rayo Vallecano can tie the 30-year-old to a new contract or if a move across La Liga is on the cards for him in the coming months.
