Barcelona out of the race to sign €75 million-rated midfielder, player in talks with PSG

Joshua Kimmich has long been linked with FC Barcelona, with the interest in the German midfielder particularly spiking last summer following the departure of Sergio Busquets.

However, the club’s financial situation meant that they were in no position to sign the Bayern Munich ace and instead brought in Oriol Romeu from Girona.

But, heading into the summer of 2024, there were once again talks about Barcelona readying a move for Kimmich, who is entering the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich.

However, as per the latest report from SPORT, Barcelona are now no longer in the race to sign Kimmich from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old, whose market value stands at €75 million, is a player who is very much liked at the Catalan club. But the total price of the operation, in the event that he leaves Germany, makes it impossible for the Blaugrana to sign him.

On top of that, PSG have entered the fray for his signing and have already begun talks with Bayern Munich over a possible deal that could see Nordi Mukiele the other way.

In fact, the report states that Kimmich is already negotiating with the Parisians through intermediaries and his departure may be feasible in the summer if not now.

Negotiations over a renewal are still open but it is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine that he will be able to continue.

Barça were fully informed of his situation and asked, but the transfer figures that Bayern would consider if they were to part with the player are unaffordable, as is his salary.

The La Liga champions could have opted to bid if Kimmich had opted to leave on a free transfer in 2025, but that does not seem likely, with PSG entering into the equation.

Les Parisiens’ manager Luis Enrique has given the OK to his incorporation and Kimmich would be studying the option. So, Kimmich seems to be slipping out of Barcelona’s grasps.
