Barcelona close to agreeing new mega shirt sponsorship deal with Nike

Barcelona’s dispute with shirt sponsors Nike looks to be coming to an end with the latest reports claiming a new 10-year agreement is in place and will be announced shortly.

The Catalans had been tipped to rip up their deal with Nike and move to Puma, or even manufacture their own shirts, but it now appears they will continue with a new contract instead.

Barca and Nike are said to be hoping to announce a new 10-year partnership between the two parties by the end of the month, according to Mundo Deportivo.

It’s an important deal for Joan Laporta and Co. because it’s believed it will include an initial bonus which will provide a massive financial boost and help the club’s hopes of returning to the 1:1 rule ahead of the summer transfer window.

Many figures have already been thrown around with the suggestion being that Nike will pay €120 million per season (with an extra €70m on offer through differing variables) throughout the terms of the new contract.

Nike will also pay out an additional €100m loyalty bonus which will be most welcome as Xavi and Laporta try to strengthen the squad this summer.
