Transfer Rumors and News

Cancelo lists four Man City stars alongside Mbappe as ‘the best players in the world’

One of the more controversial moves Barcelona made during the summer transfer window was loaning in Joao Cancelo from Manchester City for one season.

There were several question marks raised over his attitude issues and behaviour at City, with Pep Guardiola suggesting that he was not a good teammate. There were also reports claiming that he did not get along with the younger players.

Fortunately, he has had no problems at Barcelona so far, and by the look of things, has a special relationship with the younger players on the team.

He even called out Manchester City and Guardiola for the ‘lies’, and claimed that they behaved ungratefully.

Cancelo’s list of the best

Speaking about the matchup between Barcelona and PSG, and more specifically about Kylian Mbappe, Cancelo called the Frenchman as a ‘top-three’ player in the world.

“Mbappé is a player that should always be kept in mind. He is currently one of the top 3 players in the world,” he said in an interview with A Bola.

He was asked to name his other two players as part of the trident, but the Portuguese ended up listing four Man City stars to make a top-five list.

“I’m a fan of Bernardo Silva, there’s also Haaland, de Bruyne, and Rodri.”

Dreams of Champions League

Cancelo has technically already won the Champions League with City, but was not a part of the celebrations as he had been loaned out to Bayern Munich for the second-half of the season.

He did talk about the possibility of winning it this season, saying:

“In the Champions League, all the teams are strong. Paris is a team with great players and a great coach that I appreciate very much. It will be a very difficult match, but we will try, we are Barcelona, and we will try to play our game and achieve victory.”

“Since I arrived here this has been a dream, let’s dream, we have every right to do it. We are a young team but we have a lot of future and I think we are on the right track. A lot will depend on our matches from now on and on how we deal with each of them. I have a feeling that it can go well,” Cancelo added.
