Details of the meeting between Barcelona director and Frenkie de Jong’s agent – report

Frenkie de Jong’s future has once again become the hottest topic in Barcelona right now, with many expecting him to leave the club in the coming summer.

Barcelona, for their part, were reportedly considering a sale, in an attempt to get rid of their economic woes. The player, after all, is one of the team’s highest earners, with a salary of around €18-19 million a year.

Nevertheless, in a recent RAC1 podcast, Toni Juanmarti offered a series of updates regarding the future of De Jong.

Bonhomey between de Jong and Barcelona

First and foremost, Juanmarti has iterated that Frenkie de Jong is, in fact, happy at Barcelona and has no plans to leave the club anytime soon.

This comes shortly after a meeting between Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and de Jong’s agent Dursun yesterday.

Juanmarti adds that de Jong’s future was an important topic of discussion. But contrary to reports, Barcelona’s Deco used the meeting to convey the club’s trust in de Jong and that the team has no immediate plans to offload the Dutchman.

De Jong, through his agent, has also informed Barcelona that he is happy at the club. He is also confident that Barcelona can reach new heights under the leadership of the new coach.

Dursun has also conveyed that de Jong’s goal is to win titles at Barça and defend the shirt until the very end. He also believes that the new coach can build a title-winning setup, which will be key for the midfielder’s future.

The meeting between Deco and Dursun, in fact, was an indicator of good feelings between the two parties, contrary to what was reported by the media.

Deco has had direct contact with Frenkie’s entourage after the club pushed to sell the player in 2022.

Now everything appears to be calm and it won’t be surprising to see de Jong continue at Barcelona beyond the summer.
