Official: Barcelona learn their opponents for the Copa del Rey quarter-finals
After defeating Unionistas de Salamanca 3-1 in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey last night, Barcelona secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.
And, today, they have learnt who they will be facing in the last-eight stages of the cup tournament, and it is none other than Athletic Club managed by former boss Ernesto Valverde.
The draw took place at Las Rozas earlier today and Barça could have been paired up against one of the other remaining seven La Liga teams in Sevilla, Athletic Club, Mallorca, Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo, and Girona.
But it is Athletic Club who have been drawn against Xavi Hernandez & co. for the quarter-finals.
The Basque club made it to this stage of the competition after defeating Alaves in the Round of 16.

Barcelona and Athletic have already met once this season, in La Liga, with the Catalans coming out 1-0 victors thanks to a debut goal by Marc Guiu.
The quarter-final of the Copa del Rey will be played on either January 24 or 25 and will be played at San Mames.
The other quarter-final matches are as follows:
Celta Vigo vs Real Sociedad
Mallorca vs Girona
Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla.
