Puma CEO spoke to Barcelona president today, could become main sponsor in 2025

Amidst the whirlwind of negotiations, controversies, and strategic decisions at FC Barcelona, the Catalan club finds itself at a crucial crossroads regarding its shirt sponsorship.

It is no secret that Barça are unhappy with the contract with Nike and are hoping for a higher offer from the American apparel giant.

Puma CEO arrives in Barcelona

Gerard Romero has revealed that Puma’s CEO was in Barcelona today to hold an important meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and economic president Rafa Yuste.

This comes shortly after a meeting between these two with Nike officials, although the meeting did not go too well.

As far as Puma are concerned, the German apparel giant held important talks over potentially taking over the shirt sponsorship rights for Barcelona in the near future.

Puma are currently producing kits for European giants such as Manchester City, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, among others.

What’s the road ahead?

Puma are quite serious about the prospect of taking over Nike and could offer Barcelona a lucrative contract while injecting fresh energy into the club’s merchandise offerings.

The timing of Puma’s overtures is particularly noteworthy, as Barcelona navigates through a complex landscape of sponsorship negotiations and brand strategy decisions.

That said, Puma are not likely to take over business anytime soon, with Barcelona currently looking into the prospects of making their own kits. A proposal from Hummel is reportedly on the table.

But there is a stark possibility that Puma might soon start designing kits for Barcelona, perhaps even from the 2025/26 season onwards.
