Robert Lewandowski opens up about his poor form for Barcelona this season: “In 2023 I felt weaker”

“I made my decision to leave at the end of the season a few days ago, but now I have decided to announce it.”
Xavi’s words sent Barcelona fans and players into shock at the end of the 3-5 loss against Villarreal. With the team several underperforming, the Catalan legend decided that the squad would do better with someone else at the helm.
While the defence has been incredibly leaky, with Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and even Andreas Christensen out of form, Barça’s attack has been misfiring all season. In fact, according to stats, they have missed the most big chances this season in the top five leagues.
At the centre of this has been Robert Lewandowski, who has no more than eight goals all season, while missing 15 big chances in the league alone.
“In 2023, there was a time when I felt not only mentally, but also physically weaker. That year, all the bad and negative things seemed to come together in a moment. Everything has accumulated,” the Pole said in a recent interview, as per SPORT.
He also reflected on his poor form this season, saying, “Of course, I also made mistakes. I feel into a kind of current and I needed too much time to get out of it, to return to normal and in football, it is not so easy to do it in a week or two weeks.”
Lewandowski recalled his time with the Poland National Team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, suggesting that that was the time his physical ‘decline’ started, even the results said otherwise.
“During that period, I did physical tests and individual workouts in my free time and it turned out that it looked good and also gave me many answers. I see that I’m going physically, even in the club.”
“I can look back and this is an indicator for me that shows me that there are still good times ahead, but in 2023, there was a time when my spark went out,” Lewandowski concluded.
