‘We are one of the best teams in the world’ – Pedri reacts after PSG 2-3 Barcelona

Barcelona secured a hugely important 3-2 win over PSG in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie at Parc des Princes last night.

It was a brilliant performance from Xavi Hernandez’s men as they had the better of their hosts for most of the game, barring a brief period early in the second half.

Raphinha stole the show with a brace and a brilliant all-round performance, but there were vital contributions from almost every player, with even the substitutes making an impact.

Pedri was one such player who came off the bench and made an instant impact on the proceedings, setting Raphinha up for the equaliser with a sublime pass when the scoreline was 2-1.

Coming after a lengthy injury layoff, it was brilliant to see the 21-year-old do what he does best from his first touch on the night.

Speaking to the media after the match, Pedri claimed that Barcelona are one of the best teams in the world and this is how they should be playing each game, going after their opponents in a ruthless manner.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve played in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and we’ve done it one on one. We are one of the best teams in the world and we always have to go out like that, to eat our opponents,” he said.

“The Champions League is complicated, it forces you to go out like that. They put you in behind, you have to know how to suffer and score on the chances you get.”

However, Pedri acknowledged that the tie was still not over and that PSG will fight hard to get back in the return leg next week.

“It’s PSG and it’s a Champions League quarter-final. They’re not going to give us anything. There’s 90 minutes left and we’ll have to go out just as hard or harder than we did today,” he said.

Barcelona host PSG at Estadi Lluis Companys on April 16 for the second leg of the UCL quarterfinals.
