Xavi held a long discussion with Barcelona squad today after Super Cup debacle

The FC Barcelona squad and coaching staff, led by Xavi Hernandez, held a long meeting on Tuesday before the start of a session, reports Toni Juanmarti of SPORT.

After the disappointing 4-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, Barcelona have to start thinking about Thursday’s Copa del Rey clash against Unionistas de Salamanca.

As such, players reconvened to train today after being given the day off by the manager on Monday. But before the sessions started, the squad and the staff were involved in a long discussion.

What was said during the meeting?

As per the report, in a long and sincere conversation, the two sides put on the table some of the problems that are preventing the team from moving forward.

Unlike other times, when the discourse was more about insisting and continuing to work, this Tuesday the focus was on the fact that to compete against the big teams and aspire to titles, more is needed.

Both the players and the coaching staff agreed that the team needs to do more both in terms of attitude and aptitude.

Although the squad is in a bad state of mind, the coach believes that it is vital to turn over a new leaf as soon as possible in the face of what is still to come.

The most important part of the season has not even begun and that means that there are still chances to turn the situation around and make the campaign into a successful one.

Barcelona, after all, are still alive in three competitions, and Xavi is a firm believer that things can take a turn for the better.
