Bayern Munich superstar addresses Barcelona, PSG transfer rumours: “We’ll discuss it between us”
Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich has been linked with a move to Barcelona since the summer of 2023. The 28-year-old German international was seen as a replacement for Sergio Busquets, but the club’s financial situation meant the move did not materialise.
Heading into the summer of 2024, though, Kimmich continues to be on Barcelona’s agenda, with the La Liga champions still on the lookout for a top pivot midfielder.
However, Barça are not alone in pursuit of Kimmich as Ligue 1 champions PSG have also entered the race to sign the midfielder.
In fact, recent reports suggested that talks were already underway over a potential move to PSG for Kimmich, leading to claims that Barcelona were ruled out of the chase.
However, Kimmich has now come out and addressed the speculations, stating that he is fully focused on Bayern Munich at this point.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the German midfielder said: “I’m only focused Bayern. For me, it’s not a winter topic at all.”
The fact that his contract with Bayern expires in 2025 has been the fuel driving the transfer speculations. When asked about a potential renewal with the Bavarians, Kimmich replied:
“At some point, the club will approach me, and we’ll discuss it between us and not with the media.”
As mentioned earlier, Kimmich remains one of the names on Barcelona’s wishlist to strengthen the defensive midfield position for next season.
Other names such as Amadou Onana, Martin Zubimendi, and more recently, Bruno Guimaraes, have also been linked.
